“In our technology-saturated visual environment, the question is not whether video will be used in performance (it will), or whether this is a trend that may pass (like ever-expanding online culture, it won’t) but rather, how savvy performers and directors can use moving images to create powerful, visually interesting, critical, or otherwise fresh and authentic works on stage” Patricia Mildner
*This page demonstrates my continued interest, practice as research, and participation in creating Dance Films; also referred to as Dance on Film, Screendance, and Dance For Camera. Performance and choreography combine with textures of location, layers of movement through editing, and sound to provide a new way to present a choreographic work. Each piece explores the possibilities of the body in conjunction with technology. Films have been exploratory works leading to larger choreographic projects, submitted for film festivals, as well as presented in evening length dance concerts. |
