To continue my work through collaboration and technology, I am currently working on a video tele-conferencing choreography collaboration. This process is the start of research and development to explore the possibilities and process of remote choreography. This collaboration tests the boundaries of what we know as collaborative possibilities. Through technology, we are provided an opportunity as educators and choreographers to bring more opportunities and experiences to our students, community, and digital dance.
This piece is being constructed via Skype Video Conferencing with Teal Darkenwald. Ms.Darkenwald is an Assistant Professor in Dance at East Carolina University. This project has been titled The Living Room Project as we develop collaborative choreography for her Contemporary Repertoire DNCE 3602-001 course. Student journals, talk-backs, and video recordings have been collected to provide data and reference materials for this practice as research.
Photos below give a small glimpse into The Living Room Project. The sample video shows the process of creating our collaborative work Wreckage through rehearsal videos, the use of Skype technology, and sharing of thoughts and ideas.
Following the original creation of the work, the dancers performed Wreckage at the ECU School of Theatre and Dance productions; Random Acts, Dance at Goldsboro, and Dance @ Wright.
