A great local event that gave me an opportunity to create new work and become a part of the community! An old Firestone warehouse space was created into a gallery style event! Local artists showed photography, sculpture, paintings, music, and performance art. I was thrilled to be able to perform in Laura Chiaramonte's new work. It was a great industrial venue to do a site specific piece. Old tire stickers had been stuck to a wall over time in a particular corner over time. I knew this was the local that I wanted to be in! A photographer with digitally enhanced images hung his portraits on the wall, which provided the perfect partnership. Love being able to take a piece and adapt it to a certain location, and knowing that it is a piece that can transform from space to space! Fun to get down into the gritty floor in a pretty skirt....
Decided that a windy day and a green lawn would be a great way to get started on a new project. I created a choreography based on 'The Yellow Wallpaper' by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Reading this story was inspired by a friend.... and was the perfect way to bring my current ideas together. First a skirt, then music, building choreography, onto creating a dance film. Ready to celebrate springtime and get out there and move! These still images were created from video clips as I was experimenting with how the environment and the skirt read on film. |
